3- Day G.L.A.S. Dwarf Car Open Invitational
Steve Martin, President and founder of "Mid West Classic Racers", (MCR) wants to announce the Great Lakes Asphalt Series has been asked to bring the Series to the fall schedule of Jones M-40 Speedway's second annual "Octoberfast" Oct. 9-10&11 2009.
To date the series has been limited to members of MCR, OVDCA and BIDCA. This event will be an open invitation to all "Classic" dwarf cars from all around the country, regardless of their club affilation, to participate in the best asphalt Dwarf Car racing in the Mid West.
Final details re: rules, purse, tires, weight and race format are still being worked out at this time and will be posted here as they become clear. This event is designed to promote the sport of Classic Dwarf Car racing on asphalt and the rules will be liberal enough to allow most Classic Dwarfs to participate.
Jones Speedway is a 3/8 mile high bank D shaped oval with 22 degree banking and a smooth asphalt surface allowing for some good speed and three wide racing. It is located 14 miles north of the Indiana border on rt. 40 at Jones Michigan, primitive camping is available at no cost (no water-hook ups or electric). The weather in this part of the country in early Oct. is usually cool nights and warm sunny days, perfect for early fall fun.
If you're interested in some fall fun pencil this event in, set aside a few vacation days and plan on joining in, most regular programs are done by this time of the year, so for the hard core race nuts it's one last chance to do the wild thing before putting the car away for another long winter.
Additional sponsors are still being sought and sponsor inquiries are welcome.
Watch this post in the weeks ahead for additional info as it becomes availible.
